Becky Moody One Day at a Time March 8, 2012
Ken was always telling me " don't worry", things will work , out they always do somehow.  Of course his ability to not worry was irritating, who does that?  He was good at it, and he was right it, usually worked out okay.  So I'm going to try to  .....
" not look at the mountain in the distance, but just climb the hill right in front of me".
Perhaps all of you who loved and admired Ken can do the same and the days ahead will be alitlle less stressful.
He would want it that way for all of us!

Thanks to all of you for making this difficult time a little more bearable.
Becky
Cathie Dodd My First Memory of Ken March 6, 2012
I was telling this memory to Juli the other day and she said I should share it here.  When I was first in the Cardiff area in the 1980's I was struggling to make ends meet as I was trying to work part time and pioneer.  Some of the sisters encouraged me to do housecleaning and while I was building up my business Ken was suggested to me.  He had a cleaning service then and a few of the sisters worked for him.  I remember him teaching me the proper way to use a squeegee to clean the mirrors.

One day we were cleaning on of his regular clients when Ken disappeared to have this long conversation with her.  He told us all what his conversation was later in the car when we were heading to the next job.  She had been missing some of her jewelry from the house and was sure it was his cleaning staff.  He told her that was not possible and she wanted to know how he was so certian.  He said because his staff was all Jehovah's Witnesses and they had a greater reason for not stealing.  The conversation got into a deep conversation of the Bible.  Ken had gone to his car and got his Bible and ended up witnessing to her for about an hour.  This was not the last time I heard him witness while at work, but it was the one time I remember.  I don't remember working for him long, but for some reason this has staryed in my memory all these years.  Prehaps because at the time I was still timid about informal witnessing and it encouraged me to do it more myself after that.

When I left the San Diego area for many years and came back, it was nice to see Ken's friendly face in the congregation again.  It was nice to see his smiling face and receive hugs from Ken and meetings.  He was a weekly fxture at Thursday night meetings and made the school a pleasure to attend.  He will greatly be missed.  He will be added to my list of many friends and family I will look forward forward to welcoming back someday.  You will have to talk to Juli then about planning his resurrection party (her supposed job in the new system).

I am so sorry for your loss and I hope this memory gives you some comfort in reconfirming what a wonderful man Ken Moody was.

Cathie

Becky Moody Kenny the Early Years March 4, 2012
I came across "Kenny's " report cards and thought friends would love to know the young Kenny Moody.

His 1st grade report card teachers comments:  Kenny excells in games; never have I seen anyone move as fast as Kenny does for his size! ( Kenny was often called Shorty).  Kenny is well-liked and he has many friends and a pleasant disposition.
Kenny likes music and is quite responsive to it.

2nd grade:  Kenny is a very nice boy and always keeps at a job till it is done.
He is still rather quiet...( obviously out grew that, right!)

3rd grade:  Kenneth is popular with the other children.  He appears very happy and is able to get along with everyone. His friendly spirit has contributed to the pleasant relationship with other children.

4th grade:  report card missing

5th grade:  We are proud of the fact Kenny was appointed to the Junior Patrol.  This is a responsible position and he has accepted this responsibility well.

6th grade: Kenneth  ( what happened to "Kenny" ) is a fine boy.  He is reliable in fulfilling his duties and conscientious about his lessons.  Having a pupil like Kenneth is what makes a teachers work rewarding.  His high sense of honor reflects his excellent home training.  Being a perfectionist, he is never satisfied unless he excells in everything he attempts to do.

Kens 6th grade  personal promotion book, Ken says:
favorite sport...baseball
favorite athlete...Willie Mays
favorite book...comic books
favorite subject... girls  ( uh-oh)
when I grow up I plan on being  baseball player.

Perhaps those tid-bits will help all of us who loved him now know how he became the man we loved.

Jessica Daughter "high heel shoes" March 3, 2012
Around the age of 6 or 7, I remember my dad working at nights doing janitorial and him saying goodbye and me asking him for high heel shoes from Toys R Us, which was near one of his jobs. Sometimes I would awake in the morning to find the little purple or pink and silver shoes sitting at the foot of my bed in the morning, of course bringing a smile to my face. Maybe that is how my love of shoes started. Just one of the great memories I have of my dad.
